The creative edge in internet marketing today is in the writing. Think about this for a minute. Every website contains three key Ingredients. They are; visual style, products and services and written articles about the site. Those written articles can be in the form of a blog, a front page about the company or even advice about other websites. The bottom line is the more information you provide about your site the more hits you are likely to receive.

There are as many different reasons for surfing the net as there are people in the world. Sure there are related topic searches, but what is the most important thing all the great sites have in common? A single word sums it all up, content.

When you are developing a website you need to think about what you want to say. Look at it like a short story. The character represents the products and services, the visual layout represents the background and the plot is the set of articles that describes the company. Finally the wrap of the story is represented by the purchase. If your story isn’t written in a clear and entertaining manner the reader will not want to turn the page.
So how do you make sure your website has good content? There is an old saying in the writing community, write what you know. This means take an idea you have and turn it into something great. Sounds easier said than done, doesn’t it? What is required from you? It requires an unfailing belief in what you have to offer. If the content of the story you are presenting isn’t believable the site will fail.

So now that you have an idea what do you need to do next? Learn everything there is to know about it. You need to be able to answer questions and back up what you are offering. This also means knowing what you are capable of doing. In essence your website is a resume of your company. Let’s say your site is a forum for new writers to come and find out information about publishing companies. How would you make money off this? Simple set up the site as a members only site. The members pay a one time fee and they have access to the best information out there. What happens if the information is wrong? YOU WILL LOSE BUSINESS. The moral to the story is to know what you have to offer and make sure it is the best information out there.

Another marketing edge is email. We have all seen the junk mail part of the inbox fill up. What will set yours apart from the rest? The writing content in the email itself. When you are writing an email that is going to go out to every person that has searched a particular keyword, you want to make sure the email sound direct and honest. Most people today are not dazzled by phrases like, “Make ten thousand dollars in a single day.” This usually implies a scam of some sort. Instead word it like you would a proposal that is either going to make or break your company. Remember you are selling not only your site in the email, you are selling yourself.
